Post Civil War- Texas had little war so it was untouched. Soldiers came back to fertile land and increased herds of cattle. Beef industry becomes lucrative and Cattle drives move the herds north to stockyards in Chicago or Kansas City.

(1861-1865) Civil War Era. most of fighting occurs in deep in deep south, so Texaas comes out in good shape. Fertile crops, large herds of cattle/ horses. Readmitted to union after Reconstruction Era
