Conservatism. Conservatives included monarchs, noble land owners and church leaders

A return to the old order before Napoleon, the return of social hierarchy, restoration of royal families to the throne, suppression of revolutionary ideas
What was the liberal ideology?
Government based on constitutions, not monarchy, favored a republic, supported individual rights like liberty, equality and property, laissez-faire economics

What were some of the effects of nationalism?
Nations tried to secure their own states, gave people a sense of identity but also led to intolerance and persecution
